…and yes I know it was a total fluke but this has become their journal so you will be forced to read about it!
Uncle Drew got the girls potties for Christmas (shitty gift - ha ha). I’ve done my research on potty training and I understand there are 2 distinct schools of thought. I’m generalizing here but basically there’s the get em trained early camp and the wait until they are good and ready camp. While I am fully prepared to wait until they are close to 3, I see no harm in getting them used to the idea now that they can a) walk, b) communicate and c) have shown an interest (they say pee pee, do do, yuck, dirty and toot toot when they or anyone else, ahem, pass gas…). Double diaper money is also a good motivator for us to try. So is me being at home with them all day, everyday.
All that being said I have no false expectations that this is going to be a quick process. I asked for the potties so we could slowly introduce them to the idea. We have not started potty boot camp, I have just set them up and put them in their bathroom and the plan is to sit them on it before bath each night and go from there.
Tonight was the first night. John is at poker so I did bath time solo. I got them undressed, closed the bathroom door and nicely asked them to sit on their potties to see if they needed to go pee pee. I have been making a big production everytime I have to pee so they know what pee pee is now. They both sat down and looked up at me waiting for the pee pee. I thought they would lose interest quickly but they both just sat there. About 3 mins in Leah peed. She actually started squealing pee pee and I clapped and got all excited. She was pretty happy with herself. Emma continued to sit but after 5 mins I put them in the bath.
So there you have it. Our first free pee! What will we do with the 25 cents we saved on that diaper ![]()

Buy a little pack of Wrigley’s gum! I think that might be the only thing in the world that’s 25 cents these days..
