We got back fromVegas yesterday morning. We took the red eye so yesterday was all about napping and trying to slowly get used to things while my parents are still here to help with the girls.
We had a great trip. It was just long enough that by the last day we were ready to come home. We napped a lot, lay by the pool, ate and walked around the casinos. There was no schedule or planning - we slept when we were tired and ate when we were hungry. It’s been awhile since John and I did what we felt like doing and it was fun to realize again that we pretty much have the exact same idea of what a vacation should be. The night we flew out we met with Troy and Jessica for dinner which was fun - it’s been along time since we hung out without kids! Jess had her camera so I’ll post a picture when I get it - we had the camera but couldn’t be bothered taking any pictures.
The girls did really well with my parents. I promised myself I would not spend my week worrying about them and I was fine with my photo and our daily call. My mom put them on speaker and they were so cute. They were very excited to talk to us on the phone. Emma is taking more and more steps but only when she’s interested. She still prefers to crawl. My dad said he saw 10 steps one day - we’ve still only seen 5. Leah seems much stronger as well - she’s getting up and down and cruising all around the furniture no problem now. She’s so much more daring than Emma ever was and she’s quickly getting better with her balance.
We took them to the doctor today for their 15 month checkup. They each got 2 shots and they recovered quickly from the tears. While they are still not on the “normal” growth curve they are following their own curves so the doctor is pleased. Emma is 19lbs 6ozs and Leah is 18lbs 14ozs - so we still have to keep their carseats rear facing. They are both 30 inches tall.
I think my Mom and Dad are going to go home tomorrow so it will be back to reality for me. John is at work today - he’s finding it pretty long. Tomorrow morning we have our first class at the Early Years. This one is a session for parents of 1-2 year olds and it’s from 9:15-11:15am. The girls go into nursery while I’m in the next room with the other parents. It’s right in the middle of their morning nap so it might be a disaster. When I signed up I was hoping to get into the late October session but I think if the girls are playing they’ll be fine. This might be the beginning of 1 nap a day.
