I am pleased to report that Emma has gone to bed without screaming her head off for 5 consecutive nights. Almost every night we walk them in the Baby Bjorns (the greatest baby carrier ever), get them in their pjs, give them a bottle, brush their teeth and get them in bed just after 8. They are rarely asleep by 9 and for awhile Leah would play happily in her crib while Emma screamed…and screamed…and screamed. Now instead of crying Emma has discovered she can hug her chickie and laugh and play with Leah. We’ve even seen them hold hands through the crib rails - how cute is that! It’s so nice to listen to them interact and so much better than the crying.
Some of you might remember me mentioning baby sign language months and months ago. We’ve only been really consistent with the sign for milk (we say it and do the sign nearly every time they get a bottle) but to be honest it seems like a huge waste of time when they totally ignore you once they zone in on the beloved bottle. So yesterday I was holding both bottles so I just said milk and Emma did the sign!! Then Leah did it!! I thought it was just a fluke but they do it all the time now. This is so neat and I can’t believe they can do it. I have to pick another word to teach them. I’m thinking book - they love books. Now if only they could love food…but that’s another post. Tonight is about things they do well!
