September 2004

It’s hard to believe that our babies were 3 months old yesterday. They are growing so fast. We weighed them on our home scale and Leah is 9.8 pounds and Emma is 9.4 (scale measures to the 10th of a pound) - we’ve got two little porkchops!

They are both changing quickly now. They are in the process of mastering the whiny cry…they’ll fuss until they hear you coming then open their eyes and give you a big gummy smile. It sure is easy to see how people spoil their babies! They have also set a new sleeping record - 8.5 hours on Monday night!

We haven’t been up to much this week. We have my parents van so I have our car but I just don’t feel like going out. I’m in the mood to clean out closets and get the condo ready for when we have to start showing it - I’m sure that mood won’t last long!

Here are some pictures I took yesterday. I have also added some new pictures from our vacation (see September 4th on Two Month page).

We had another busy day yesterday. My parents are going on a RV trip for a few weeks around the Great Lakes and decided to spend a day with us before they left. Yesterday we went over to the latest Mattamy development and walked through a few houses that are under constructions. We found one just like ours and it gave us a good idea of some of the structural upgrades we will consider. When I was little, my dad and I used to go look through houses that were under construction - I never thought that one day I would get the chance to walk through my own - we can't wait!

Well our first family vacation is coming to an end - John has to go back to work tomorrow. So sad. It will be interesting to see how the girls behave with just one person to dote on them all day…hopefully they'll be good. I was going to start them on a nap schedule tomorrow but the more I think about it the more I'm inclined to let them settle back into their routine for a few days before I start anything new.

It's hard to believe that this time last year our wedding reception was in full swing! It seems like just yesterday until one of the baby starts to fuss and then the reality of just how much has happened in a year sets in. Who would have thought that after one year of marriage we would have 2 kids! We spent a nice quiet day enjoying the girls and each other.

We’re back from our holiday.

We had a nice week up north at the cottage. The weather was terrible the first day then got consistently better as the week went on. You could tell by the temperature of the water just how cold the summer has been but we were all tough and went swimming.

The girls had lots of visitors over the week. Gary, Nancy, Erin, Darryl, cousin Christine and Olaf came to visit on Sunday. On Tuesday Uncle Van and Aunt Bonnie (the girls have two Aunt Bonnies) came to meet the girls for the first time. They brought their kayaks with them and the guys had some fun in the water. Aunt Bonnie and Tom came for dinner on Wednesday night.

We all had a very relaxing week. Having so many people to help with the girls gave John and I some time to relax. He fished and I got to read a book! I’m reading the Da Vinci Code - I’m not done yet but so far it’s really good.

The girls continued their good sleeping habits and consistently went 7 hours. It makes such a difference when you can put them to bed at 11 and they sleep til 6. One morning they went until 7:30am! Nana helped with all the morning feeds and one morning we managed to get both girls fed and the pumping done in 33 minutes. It normally takes me an hour and a half when I’m by myself.

Both girls are smiling alot more now and will do it on demand if you are willing to make tons of faces at them and talk in a silly voice. They are both getting alot stronger and can lift their heads right up and look forward while on their tummies.

On our way home today we stopped in for lunch with Great Grandpa Holmes. He just loves seeing the girls and showing them off to the neighbours. We were both happy to be home today. We all missed Jackson and it was nice to see her.
